The original, and still the best.

Well, Saturday night was to be a night of SWS. No one showed up and no one said they weren't. Oh well. It was still fun and enjoyable none the less. Ran and I played Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

This is still my favorite COD and forever will be ; I broke my COD cherry on COD4 and went through many nights of absolute anguish over my failure as a COD player. There were nights of not even getting enough kills to even rank up. I couldn't do it, it was too fast, too many maps to learn, too many corners and too many good players for me to have a chance.

I can still remember getting pep talks from Ran, saying I shouldn't give up the fight. This game sucks I would say,...he would say, the game doesn't suck, you do. What. A. Dick. I tried playing COD the watch the corners the way, creeping through the map, hiding in a sniper nest and trying my best to not die. That did not work. Finally I said f*ck it. Went balls to the wall and just rushed through shooting anything and everyone. Run and Gun without the skill. If you have ever played Hardcore with me you know what I am talking about, especially early in the night and just starting to play. Old habits die hard I guess. Finally the skill has caught up at least, instead of 5 and 16, it's 16 and 5. I still squealed when I got my first UAV and Harrier strike, sadly I didn't manage a chopper.

The game is just as I remembered, yet I forgot the details of the maps. It took a minute then you flash back 6 years,...6 motherf*cking years. That wash of enthusiasm and uselessness of just starting out. Oooh, I remember. Playing the best maps, small to medium, defined lanes of combat, always within seconds of the fight. The game played in a way I had never seen, players swarmed on to each other moving around the map in a wave. Like a clock-wise swirl of destruction. The spawns were as rough as they ever were, but that's COD in general. When you shot at your enemy in Team Deathmatch they would go down quickly. We played in a number of lobbies and none of them were glitched as there was a title update we had to download. Don't know if that had something to do with the clean lobbies. I hope it was. Slick, definitive combat at it's best.

Another SWS night we play this. That it still is operating without the glitch lobbies should be fun.

SWS out.
