"Down the hole of rabbit, we go" Fez Review

First off, if anybody wants to experience the pure enjoyment of a puzzler, buy this game.

Fez is a "old school" 8-bit platform puzzle game and is something of a mystery. The story is simple, yet complex and is challenging work out for your brain. The process is simple, collect cube bits to reform the giant cube that speaks in a language you can't understand, but you can cypher the language with enough time and guess work.

Fez starts in a 2-D platform world and your grandfather or uncle or something gives up his adventuring days and you start yours. The magical fez bestows on you the ability to see the world in 3-D. Switching perspectives allows you to climb higher, travel though doors hidden on the other side...DUNDUNDUN.

You travel though many differing zones all with unique environments and puzzles. Waterfalls, sewers, and graveyards offering different questions obstacles. The game slowly reveals that below the surface the it is complex interweaving mystery. Collecting cubes, then whole cubes, then anti cubes; 64 in all and plus the hidden quirks that make this game brilliant.

Cracking the codes is where you must take the time to really figure out the the whole Fez world. Admittedly I needed help with this; this is deep. The language, the number system, all in cube form with lines and that mean and look similar to the next. Once you see the light, the game opens up to another challenge. Where did I see this before double take of the world.

I give a Good Inu to Fez. Any body who wants to platform jump, puzzle your way, and experience a true eureka game, this is it.

SWS out.
