Karmassassinn: Not the initiation post you deserve... but here it goes

Man this has been awhile.  Regen put some pressure on me here.  How do I encapsulate why we decided to bring Karma into the High Council after only a year and a half?  Perhaps because he is one of the few members that not only plays frequently but also contributes to the blog?  No, no.  It’s much more complicated than that.  Is it because you guys are just adding the only other person that is still an active member of the group?  No, and I’m insulted that you would suggest it. It will be difficult to put this into a coherent thought, but here it goes.  

Karma has been more integral in the advancement of our band in the past few months than anyone.  Not only has he improved as a player over the past year or so, but he has become a staple to this group and its decision making.  Karma continues to push our group to new heights, while most of us are content to sit around and make asses of ourselves, or wallow in self pity like myself.  The more I think about it the more it shocks me that we haven’t made a formal announcement about this before.  Sure, months ago Regen and I knew that he was a member.  I believe I even remember the discussion happening sometime in early spring.  We just kept it to ourselves at the time.  We had toyed with the idea of trying to do a fake initiation video of sorts.  There probably would have been some sort of chant and maybe even a dance.  We had some grand idea of using the video mode in Black Ops to help us with this, but as with many things of late it fell to the side.  I digress.  This is a post about Karma’s initiation into the high council, not the incessant ramblings of a man with nothing better to do than to ramble. 

This is a story that is best told from the beginning; honestly it probably should be saved for around a camp fire, but im doing what I can with what I got.  How about this, imagine a campfire.  Maybe some smores?  Mmmmm, ok ok here we go.  In the winter of 2009 the SWS was hitting its stride.  Looking back on it now it was our “good old days” active membership was at an all time high.  Despite my eventual hatred for MW2, I had not turned bitter yet.  If anyone of you ask me about that ill deny it.  Anyway, during our “hardcore” phase RageInu and I came across the man, and now the legend; Karma.  

We were playing a hardcore match on Scrapyard.  You remember, the one with the airplane in it.  No, not the crashed airplane thats Afghan.  No, not the one with the airplane docked at the airport, thats Terminal.  Its the little one with the airplanes still being built and some hangars on the outside of the map.  Lots of people liked to use the 1887s, shooting halfway across the map.... frickin game.  Sorry, old habits die hard.  Karma was on the other team and more or less got dominated by Rage and myself.  Now, like all good stories there is probably a bit of exaggeration here but I want to say that Rage and I ended up with about 45 kills and maybe 10 deaths between us. 

Now after a beating like that you would except that Karma, being the good sport that he is, would congratulate the better men, at least for that fleeting moment.  However, Karma’s first words to me were “are you using the care package glitch?” Now as you all know I hate those glitches that ruined that game.  You all remember the care package glitch right?  No?  Ok well it went like this.  “Generic opening comment by disembodied voice meant to motivate you through your television.”  This was quickly followed by enemy care package incoming.  AC130 incoming.  Wash, rinse , and repeat. 

After we proved that the score was merely just part of our skillzzz and not just a lucky coincidence (ha!) karma asked to come tag along and the rest is history.  Since then Karma has helped Regen nurse this blog along and still continues to bring us new players and maybe even a few silly nights.  Karma,we are honored to initiateyou into the High Council.  I mean no offense to any of our members, but I think I speak for everyone when I say that Karma and Psia (seriously where is that guy) being random additions to this group has brought us to levels that the founding fathers never thought possible.  We gained a High Council Member today, but we gained a friend over a year ago and in the end isn’t that what we are all about here? 

Ok, now I’ve gone from rambling to sappy(still with some rambling of course) and now I should get to the fun.  As those of us that play still know Black Ops is almost over.  Those of us that can should toast our best drinks to Karma whenever we can all get on.  I would imagine another double xp weekend will pop up when the maps hit the ps3.  Of course we can stop trying to bail water out of this sinking ship and maybe play some Call of Duty 4?  Whatever Karma wants.  Please help me welcome a new brother into the high council.
